Asset Valuation Advisory (formally Griffin Valuation Advisory) origins date back to 2004, through the merger of 3 private valuation consultancy firms to become Australian Valuation Partners and then the transition into our current branding and name.

Richard Blow FRICS FAPI (P&M) CPV

Managing Director | Head of Valuation & Advisory

With over 36 years professional plant, equipment, building & infrastructure asset valuation experience, Richard has worked for large multinational valuation firms such as the Rushton Group and Colliers Jardine, as well as managing his own valuation consultancy company for more than 10 years.

Richard is the founding owner of Asset Valuation Advisory and previously Griffin Valuation Advisory. He has completed valuations for private, public, corporate, local, state and federal government agency clients throughout Australia and overseas. He has experience in a diverse range of industries, in particular he has significant experience in the mining & resource sector, specifically minerals processing & treatment plants, refining, smelting etc.

Richard’s valuation experience covers all basis of valuation including valuations for insurance purposes, loss assessment, financial reporting, tax consolidation, mergers & acquisitions, purchase price allocation, transactional advice, due diligence, rating and taxing, market, auction realisable, asset register reconstruction, asset audit/bar coding and reconciliation.

Richard is a guest lecturer at Curtin University School of Business and has been since 2003, to both Undergraduate & Postgraduate students and still continues to enjoy presenting these lectures to the future Valuers of the profession. He is also one of only two accredited assessors for the Machinery & Business Assets Faculty within The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) in Australia and is also a current State Committee Member for the RICS in Western Australia. Richard has also served as a Divisional Councilor in the Western Australian Division of the Australian Property Institute (API).

John Harvey FRICS FAPI CPV

With over 37 years combined professional experience in property, plant, equipment & infrastructure assets, John’s experience includes over 16 years with the Western Australian Valuer Generals Office.

John was a founding owner of Griffin Valuation Advisory and has completed a large range of valuations for private, public, corporate, local, state and federal government agency clients throughout Australia. He has extensive experience in the valuation of heritage properties, other market type properties & infrastructure assets.

John’s valuation experience covers all basis of valuation including valuations for insurance purposes, loss assessment, financial reporting, tax consolidation, mergers & acquisitions, transactional advice, due diligence, rating and taxing, market, auction realisable, asset register reconstruction and reconciliation.

Australian Property Institute (API)

The Australian Property Institute (API) has a proud history as Australia’s premier property professional organisation. Founded in 1926 as the Commonwealth Institute of Valuers, the Institute has evolved over time, adapting to the changing needs and influences of the property profession.

The API are a National body with over 7,500 Members each of whom is a professional involved in the valuation, administration and use of land, property, and plant and machinery. Members have degree level tertiary qualifications, have served a period of rigorous training, passed examinations and required to achieve annually accredited compulsory Continuing Professional Development.

Members of the Institute include valuers, professional property advisors, analysts and facilitators and all share a common attribute – they are property experts.

The API sets and maintains the highest standards of professional practice, education, ethics and discipline. Its Members are persons of professional integrity operating under the supervision and discipline of the Institute and bound by a Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct.

Certified Practising Valuers (CPV) have a role at the heart of property as an important part of the Australian economy. They’re usually working quietly behind the scenes in an objective and independent manner to help reduce risk and provide greater certainty for their clients.

Their clients include those involved in business of any description – as well as mum and dad investors they could be, for instance, overseas investors, rural landholders, hotel owners and operators, insurance advisors, stockbrokers, solicitors, mining companies or finance companies.
